Ways To Help Clients Feel More Comfortable In Your Piercing Studio

by Jared Butler

Running a piercing studio requires you to wear many hats. You have to act like an accountant and keep the books. You have to provide good customer service, manage your employees, and do human resources-related tasks. In all of this business, it is easy to lose track of another important element — making your clients feel comfortable. Getting a piercing is exciting, but it can also be a little intimidating for some clients. There are steps you can take to make your studio a place where clients feel more comfortable and confident when getting an ear piercing.

Display Your Licenses

The licensing requirements for piercers vary from state to state, and sometimes even from county to county. But surely, there were licensing requirements that you had to meet to open your business. And if you employ other piercers, they probably had to meet certain licensing requirements, too. Displaying those licenses can give your clients the reassurance that they are in a studio with trained, qualified professionals. So, find some nice frames and hang those licenses front and center.

Greet Guests in a Friendly, Comforting Way

You don't want clients to wander into your studio and spend five minutes standing alone, ruminating, before your busy piercer comes to talk to them. So, if you can afford to do so, hire a good customer service person to sit in the front of your shop. Encourage them to greet guests warmly and make them feel welcomed and comforted as soon as they enter. This instant welcoming will assure them and put them in a confident mood prior to their piercing.

Encourage Your Piercers to Chat With Clients

Clients tend to ruminate and get too worried about their upcoming piercing if they dwell on it too long. A good way to distract clients and get their minds off the piercing is to have your piercers talk to them. If you have some quieter, more introverted piercers on your crew, you may have to help them ease into this and give them ideas as to what they can talk about with clients. Advise them to ask clients what their weekend plans are, what their favorite piercings are, if they have any tattoos, and other similar questions.

If your clients feel comfortable, they will have a more enjoyable piercing experience and may even come back again for more piercings. Follow the tips above, and you'll be headed in the right direction.
