Work at Home – Pros and Cons

5 Common Questions You'll Have When Considering A Dog Daycare For Your Pet

by Jared Butler

Do you have a dog that is not doing so well when left alone at home during the day? If so, you may be considering a dog daycare so that they are in good hands while you're at work. Here are some common questions you'll likely have when considering if you should use a dog daycare facility.

Is There Space For Your Dog To Play?

A dog daycare does more than just watch your pet when you're away. They give your pet opportunities to do things that they normally wouldn't be able to do when left alone. It is common to have either outdoor or indoor areas for dogs to run around during the day and play with different dogs. If the area is inside, the play space is going to be climate-controlled so that your pet is comfortable.

Can You Check In On Your Dog During The Day?

One of the nice things about using a dog daycare is that many modern facilities have a webcam that you can log into and see your pet during the day. This allows you to see them playing and having fun, which will give you peace of mind that you made a good decision to use a dog daycare facility.

How Is Feeding Handled?

You will need to supply your dog's food for their meals during the day if that is when they eat. This helps ensure that your dog is eating the food that you want them to eat, which will help maintain a healthy diet and digestive system. If your dog eats before and after they are at daycare, then feeding is not something that you have to worry about.

What If Your Dog Needs Medications?

If your dog requires a medication that needs to be administered while they are at the dog daycare, know that this is something that the staff can handle. They'll be able to follow your directions for how to administer the medication and even keep a log to verify who gave it to your pet and what time. This will help avoid any confusion about if your dog received their medication.

Can You Leave A Puppy At A Dog Daycare?

You'll want to ask the facility about what their policy is about taking in a puppy during the day. It is very possible that they have a policy about not taking dogs that are not trained, that are below a certain age, or that have not received their vaccines for things like rabies. Don't get caught off guard with one of these issues if you have a very young dog.
