Unique Ways To Use Essential Oils

by Jared Butler

From stress relief and increased energy to an improved immune system, the benefits of different essential oils are easy to see. While most people apply them topically or diffuse them in the air throughout their home, essential oils can be used in many other ways. If you want to improve your health, wellness, and lifestyle, here are a few unique ways to use your essential oils.

Cleaning Supplies

Most people are surprised to learn that essential oils can be used to create all-natural, eco-friendly cleaning supplies to use in and around the home. Many oils have effective antiseptic properties, which make them ideal for sanitizing areas in your home.

Cinnamon essential oil, for example, has strong antibacterial agents. Of course, cinnamon smells great, too. Consider adding 3 to 4 drops of cinnamon oil to a gallon of water and using it to clean surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom.

Tea tree oil can also be used to clean and disinfect because it contains numerous antibacterial and antiviral agents. For an all-purpose cleaner, combine 3 cups of water, ½ cup of apple cider vinegar, and 10 drops of tea tree oil in a spray bottle. Use this solution on countertops, sinks, or your floors.

To clean and sanitize your toilet, create a scrub using 1 cup of vinegar, ½ cup of baking soda, and ½ teaspoon of tea tree oil.

You can also add a few drops of lavender or lemon essential oil to dryer balls before drying laundry. Your clothes will come out not only dry but also refreshed.

Pest Control

Some essential oils to use around the house repel different insects from in and around your home. If you have a fear of spiders or you just want to free your outdoor living space of spiders, ants, bees, mosquitoes, and other insects, consider using peppermint oil.

Add a few drops of peppermint oil around your patio, deck, or porch. You can also add the peppermint oil to window and door frames to reduce the risk of insects inside your home.

If you plan to spend some time outdoors even though you know mosquitoes are prominent, add a few drops of lavender or mint essential oil to your neck, arms, wrists, and legs.

To rid your indoor or outdoor space of flies, add a few drops of cinnamon essential oil to a spray bottle with distilled water and douse the space.

The possible ways you can use different essential oils are endless. This guide will help you think outside the box when reaping the benefits of your essential oils.
